Jo Lam is the resilient and inspiring founder and CEO of Project Beauty, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to providing transformative beauty and self-care programs for survivors of trauma. Born in Hong Kong, Jo's journey to becoming a beacon of hope and strength began under the most challenging circumstances. As a young immigrant to the United States, she faced the horrors of domestic violence and sex trafficking, enduring tremendous trauma at an early age. Despite the profound challenges she encountered, Jo's indomitable spirit led her to escape her abuser and find refuge in a shelter. In 2018, driven by her personal experiences and a deep-seated desire to support fellow survivors, Jo founded Project Beauty. The organization is committed to offering programs that emphasize the importance of self-care and beauty as pivotal elements in the healing process from trauma. Under Jo's leadership, Project Beauty has grown into a vital resource for those recovering from various forms of abuse, providing them with the tools and support necessary to reclaim their sense of self-worth and confidence. Jo's efforts have not only transformed lives but also fostered a community where survivors can find solidarity and strength. Project Beauty currently serves 12 shelters across Dallas-Fort Worth. Jo's exceptional contributions have not gone unnoticed. She was recently honored as the "2024 Social Innovator of the Year" by the United Way Metropolitan of Dallas under the Social Incubator Program, a testament to her impactful work and innovative approach in the nonprofit sector. In addition to her work with Project Beauty, Jo Lam is an avid and inspiring speaker. She frequently shares her story and insights on mental health, the survivor's journey, and the critical role of self-care in overcoming trauma. Her speaking engagements have touched many, offering hope and practical advice to those navigating their paths to recovery. Jo had the privilege of delivering a keynote speech for the well-loved sports team, the Dallas Mavericks, further amplifying her message and inspiring a broader audience. Jo Lam's unwavering dedication to advocacy and empowerment continues to inspire countless individuals.
